A surprisingly versatile and good-sounding effect that does traditional chorus/ensemble sounds and beyond.

Blend key features:

  • Multi-voice chorus effect
  • 16 layers with phase offsets
  • Crisp retina GUI
  • Classic chorus effects and more
  • 32-/64-bit AU plug-in for OS X 10.6 or later

Blend is a new multi-voice chorus with 16 layers that retains a smooth, musical sound by using proportional phase offsets between the voices. For the chorus section, there are controls for the number of voices, the time range from five to 25ms, the feedback amount, the low-cut frequency, and three types of interpolation that very subtly alter the overall timbre.

Then you have the modulation section with controls for mod frequency, pitch depth, and stereo, and finally wet effect signal level, and overall mix level. When tested against our other chorus plug-ins, Blend has a clarity that the others lack, and it’s capable of both traditional chorus and ensemble effects, plus vibratos, tape wow, flanger, dissonance and also reverb. Ideally, we would have liked the stereo control to go a little wider, but if you’re in the market for a rich-sounding chorus, then this is good value.
