At the height of his fame, DJ Shadow teamed up with Mo’ Wax was records founder James Lavelle to create this dark, brooding yet claustrophobic masterpiece of cinematic dance music. The attention to detail in the production is amazing, sounding by turns hard-edged and visceral and at other points blissed-out and dreamy. As was becoming common, the album was recorded in different locations (including The Record Plant, Hollywood, and The Site in San Rafael, California) and with different guests featuring at various points.
