Gear Of The Year: Vote for the best hardware instrument of 2020

It’s hard to beat making music with a real instrument, and 2020 has provided us with a cornucopia of musical hardware.

Once considered our equivalent of the ‘best picture’ award at the Oscars, the hardware instrument world has been balanced somewhat by an ever-greater range of software tools, and those products that span both worlds. However, that’s not to say that hardware instruments are in decline – far from it!

Among this year’s many eye-openers include the staggering binaural delights of the Super 6 synth from newcomers UDO Audio, Native Instruments’ standalone box of wonder, Maschine+, Waldorf’s sonic giant Iridium and Moog’s beautifully built Matriarch. It’s a hard call, but which of the below do you think should scoop our ultimate prize?

Vote now for your pick of the bunch.
