As COVID-19 keeps producers, musicians and, well, everyone indoors, music tech companies have been rolling out free versions, trials and tasters of some of their products. Apple is the latest to join the fray, soon offering a 90-day trial of Logic Pro X and Final Cut Pro X. The latter already has a 30-day trial available, but the brand’s comprehensive DAW has never been open to the public as a demo.

Those around the world working from home, including students no longer in a classroom environment, can take advantage of this to learn the ins and outs of the digital audio workstation. If you’re new to Logic Pro X, we have a series of video tutorials that teach you the software from the ground up, available now.

This is a great opportunity for those who have been considering taking a step into Logic Pro X without wanting to commit to a full purchase. Logic Pro X currently costs £200 on the macOS App Store.

Apple’s 90-day trial will run for a limited period, and is now available. Final Cut Pro X’s extended trial is available now in the event you wanted to try your hand at video editing too.

Both trials will revert to 30 day periods after the current offer ends, although Apple has not specified when this date will be. You can download the trials from Apple’s dedicated Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro sites.

Moog, Korg, Avid and Cockos Reaper are just some of the many companies who have stepped forward with software offerings for customers amid the COVID-19 pandemic. If you’re looking for more free music software to get creative with, you can check out our freeware section here.
