We’re spoilt for choice at the moment when it comes to free software, and Arturia has just made it even sweeter. iOS-based drum machine, iSpark, is free to download until 30 April, and Pigments 2 has an extended trial period running from 2 Apr 2020 to 3 July 2020. These offers come alongside Arturia’s video competition and half-price sale on V Collection 7.
iSpark features 40 drum kits and 640 individual instruments to play and sequence with. Its sounds are based on some of the most well-loved drum machines and acoustic kits combined with Arturia’s first-class sound design. Shuffle and shift modes can be used to humanise patterns that sound otherwise robotic, and performance effects cater for experimental grooves. It boasts a 16 track mixer with effects including a multiband compressor, EQ, chorus, reverb, delay, distortion and more. You can also hook it up to a SparkLE controller and integrate it with Ableton Link.
Pigments 2 is a deep synth boasting two synthesiser engines with a sequencer and randomisation tool that keeps you busy designing sounds for hours. A top-notch preset library can help you get stuck into the synth straight away too. It works standalone too, so you won’t even need a DAW to get creating with Pigments.
Arturia is also hosting a series of live streams during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a KeyStep Pro Walkthrough and Performance with Sebastien Rochard lined up for 31 March, 6pm CET. On 2 April, Jakub Manaj will be hosting a workshop focusing on using Pigments modulation system to animate sound. The brand will also be adding more tutorials and content to its YouTube channel.
