Award-winning UK microphone manufacturer Aston Microphones has been acquired by Uli Behringer’s Music Tribe, the parent company of Behringer, TC Electronics, Midas, Tannoy and more.

Aston Mics, launched in 2016, will continue creating its products under the Music Tribe group. The team will operate from its Hertfordshire headquarters, working to uphold the reputation it has built for unique marketing approaches and product development, and maintain its relationships with customers and artists. The brand will now have access to Music Tribe’s resources, infrastructure and employees to “herald a new era in the global microphone marketplace”, the announcement reads.

Uli Behringer says of the acquisition: “The addition of Aston Microphones now allows Music Tribe to round out our professional install and touring sound offerings.

We have been continuously pursuing a microphone brand that complements the excellence offered by [Music Tribe’s] historic brands. Throughout our search, Aston Microphones has clearly stood out as the ideal match because of its world-class brand, leading innovation and first-class team of people. We will invest heavily in positioning Aston Microphones at the very pinnacle of the industry.

We are very proud to welcome the Aston team into our family.”

James Young, CEO of Aston Mics says “The synergy with Music Tribe’s existing brand portfolio is exceptional, and the huge resource in R&D, manufacturing and engineering excellence we now have at our disposal, will allow us, together, to set a bar to which other brands can only aspire. We are honoured to now share our journey with Music Tribe and such talented people.“

Aston Mics’ products have consistently impressed us in our reviews, with the Aston Element winning Best Microphone in our 2020 Gear of the Year awards. The Element was co-created by its customers, who lent a hand in each stage of the production.

Aston also recruited 33 revered industry professionals, now known as the Aston 33 and comprising 120 industry pros, to create its coveted Stealth microphone. Its first microphone was the Origin, launched in 2016.
