You can now create heavy, ultra-low TR-808 kick basslines with Audiokit Bass 808 and its interactive keyboard. The app is available on iOS and will only be on the App Store for a limited time.

The TR-808 kick drum has become an iconic tone in modern music, taking a dramatic shift in context since its appearance in Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing. Bass 808 carries on the heavy-hitting nature of the kick drum with filters, distortion, bit crusher, super sustain, glide and pitch modulation options. A ‘Super-Smash Limiter’ will stop your sounds from going above 0dB and clipping too much.

The iOS app comes pre-loaded with 100 presets, so you can get some pretty gnarly sounds without too much tweaking. These are designed by the likes of Brandon Rico Simpson, Dusti D-Sine, DJ Puzzle and more.

You can use Bass 808 as a standalone instrument or hook it up to Audiobus 3 as an AUv3 app and add the weighty 808 kick to your mobile productions. Speaking of weight, Bass 808 is pretty modest in file size, taking up less than 20mb of space.

This app is the first in a series of 10 limited edition iOS instruments from AudioKit. “This first app drop in the series will be made available for an extended period of time. We’re making it available for a minimum of 8 weeks (Mar 27 – May 8th, 2020) with possible extensions”, it says on the AudioKit site.

Audiokit Bass 808 Synth is available now as an AUv3 app for iOS for $2.99 USD until 8 May. Find out more at audiokitpro.com
