BandLab, the free online DAW and social music platform, has announced the Tracklanta 2020: Virtual Remix competition.

Aimed at budding hip-hop artists, Tracklanta 2020 is split into three contests, each offering musicians around the world the chance to win mentoring sessions with Atlanta’s most revered hip-hop producers, guidance from some of the most successful executives in the industry and desirable cash prizes. Tracklanta 2020: Virtual Remix is open to all, with no restrictions on age, style or experience.

Last year’s Tracklanta saw 5,000 producers battle it out to win one of 15 slots to record music in five iconic Atlanta recording studios with some legendary producers.

The contests

#TracklantaOG, one of the three contests in Tracklanta 2020: Virtual Remix, seeks out the next wave of hip-hop and R&B talent. Artists are asked to upload their original music to BandLab with the tag #TracklantaOG to enter the running for a cash prize of $500 and an hour-long mentoring session with Renegade El Ray from Stankonia studios and BLESS’Em’Bless from ICON Studios (Justin Bieber, Ludacris). The two producers will explore entrants’ BandLab projects on the search for two winners and will offer tips on how to make your winning track stand out even more, among other priceless wisdom.

#TracklantaFlow is open for artists to rap, sing and remix a track provided by BandLab, using the platform’s innovating ‘forking’ feature to flourish their skills. Three winners will take home a $500 cash prize and 30-minute mentoring sessions with some of the industry’s most prolific executives, including Christopher Patterson (founder of The Big Fantastic touring management company, tour managing for the likes of Janelle Monáe, 6Lack, and more); Deante’ Hitchcock (Atlanta-based rapper who has built a career from the ground up, from going viral from social media freestyle clips to being favourably compared to rappers T.I. and J. Cole); and Dan Cardenes (manager of artists such as Paperwater and Locos Por Juana with extensive industry experience and affiliations with labels like Warner Records).

The third contest in Tracklanta 2020 Virtual Remix is #TracklantaBars – this is primed at the next generation of rappers and lyricists. Artists will have the opportunity to have their bars featured alongside Canadian battle rapper, Charron. Users can Fork one of Charron’s exclusive BandLab projects and insert their own 32-bar flow into the track, either to complement or contradict his verse to win a mentoring session with Charron on how to improve your rhymes.
