Cakewalk, BandLab’s free DAW, has recently received some significant updates. The focus in these updates has been all about improving workflow and performance. The mission is to keep Cakewalk as reliable as possible for all scopes of production.
One of its new features is direct Melodyne integration through ARA 2 plug-in support. Melodyne is an audio editing tool that allows you to modify specific notes in an audio file, allowing enhanced flexibility over harmonies, melodies, rhythms and grooves. Other ARA 2 plug-ins are also compatible, all with a single viewing option for a smoother workflow.
Elastique pitch shifting and time stretching algorithms have been introduced, which offer high-quality realtime audio manipulation. Track comping and take management have also been refined with improved editing functions, these updates being of high priority to Cakewalk to cater for its pro audio community.
Cakewalk is free, and is available on Windows. The DAW is scalable to fit the specifications of any system, along with track archiving to conserve CPU if needed.
