Press Release

Conductr, the Ableton Live and Traktor controller for iPad will play a creative role at Sónar music, arts & tech festival by inviting visitors to use it to interact with everyday objects turned into musical instruments.

The interactive installation, called “HiLo”, is a collaboration between Conductr and CaboSanRoque a Catalan music group who manipulate everyday objects into musical instruments. In “HiLo” they take objects such as a typewriter, a comb and a can of insecticide and reveal their musical personality.

Using a similar process, Conductr turns the iPad into a powerful instrument and music creation tool. Together they explore the idea of making music from things which weren’t originally made for that purpose while also exploring the relationship between technology and musicians.

Everyday at Sónar by Day the audience can control “HiLo’ for themselves using the Conductr Controller app– a freemium IOS app aimed at djs, producers and creative artists. Each day at 12pm & 8pm CaboSanRoque will also perform a specifically composed musical piece. More info
