Cre8audio is a new company with a mission to provide music nerds with an affordable modular rig. It has four products on offer – NiftyCase, Chipz, Cellz and the NiftyBundle.

The NiftyCase is what brings Cre8audio’s system to Eurorack, being an 84hp compatible modular case, with USB MIDI and 5 pin Din MIDI to CV/gate conversion. With this, integrating modular synthesis into a DAW and MIDI environment is a smooth process. NiftyCase also features 2.5A of total power for installed modules. 1500mA +12V, 500mA -12V, and 500mA +5v is supplied for module power consumption. Watch the demo below.

Chipz is Cre8audio’s VCO module, derived from classic lo-fi sounding wave shapes, which Cre8audio say makes it “full of character”. The VCO sports five different wave shapes with sine, triangle, saw, square and noise waveforms, which can be blended into one another with a singular knob. There are two VCO’s in Chipz, VCO 1 has an integrated filter, while VCO 2 features integrated width control, which modulated the cycle of the waveform to shape the sound. An LFO on Chipz has five waveshapes: sine, triangle, saw, square and random.

Cellz is a funky, honeycomb-looking module that can be used as a controller, sequencer or arpeggiator. Each of the 16 ‘cellz’ can be individually tuned to output two different CV values. Each cell can be played by touching it, and an arpeggio can be created while touching multiple cellz simultaneously. See it in action below.

Cre8audio is stocking a NiftyBundle, too, which is a “big box full of synthy fun, aka metal, wood, wires, knobs and circuit boards, all for your eye and ear holes”, the company says. The bundle includes NiftyCase, Chipz, Cellz, cables from its Box ‘O’ Cables and two Cre8Audio “8” blank panels for covering unused rack space.

These are all available now and are priced as follows:

NiftyCase – MSRP $250, estimated street price $200
Chipz – MSRP $150, estimated street price $100
Cellz – MSRP $150, estimated street price $100
Box ‘O’ cables – MSRP $20, estimated street price $15
NiftyBundle – MSRP $570, estimated street price $270
