Denise Audio has released Bite Harder and My Crush, two new bitcrusher plug-ins that are based on a newly-designed destructive algorithm.

Denise Audio My Crush
My Crush is Denise’s free bitcrushing plug-in and is a straightforward classic-sounding bitcrusher. It’s more stripped-back than its big brother, Bite Harder, but sports some of the same core features. This includes a low-pass filter and high-pass filter on pre- and post-affected signals, a Stutter parameter for glitch effects, resampling, bit-reduction, and six different curve shapes to choose from.
Denise says it wanted to “create a fun and inspiring crusher, with the same brutal power of the Bite Harder, but the simplicity of preset controls and way to shape your sound in a quick and inspiring way.” The result is My Crush. Denise Audio Bite Harder
Bite Harder is Denise’s bitcrushing main event. You can use it to decimate your audio and craft rough sounds using the push-pull technique – as found on other Denise plug-ins. There’s also the classic bit-reduction and sample-reduction features onboard to bring extra grit to drums or transform a clean guitar riff into a heavy, distorted monster.
The push-pull graph gives you multi-band control over which frequencies to bitcrush, while the sliders below can be used to adjust randomisation, repeat, Stutter, Glitch and drive. Glitch is a ring modulator – perfect for futuristic tones – and drive lets you take things up a notch. Repeat and Stutter allow you to loop your sounds and add a touch of chaos, with tempo-sync or free functionality.
Other parameters include Silky, which lets you smooth out the sound for a more rounded distortion, and Clipper, which gives you an extra stage of clipping to tame the distortion. You can also activate sidechain and adjust the filtering on the pre- and post-effected signal.
