Denon DJ Beatport Link Engine OS 1.5

Earlier this year, Denon DJ unveiled its new selection of PRIME products, which boasted the ability to stream music from TIDAL directly to the decks. Now, the company has teamed up with Beatport and SoundCloud to integrate their streaming services into all Denon DJ products running Engine OS 1.5, which is available now. The compatible Denon DJ products include the SC6000, SC6000M, SC5000, SC5000M, PRIME 4, PRIME 2 and PRIME GO.

Beatport LINK

Beatport LINK’s entire streaming library can be accessed over Wi-Fi straight from the hardware, with the ability to browse Beatport’s Top Charts, Genre Charts and Artist Charts. Users can also create and access their own LINK playlists.

The touch screen workflow on the PRIME Series hardware allows users to swipe and browse through tracks and playlists with ease. Beatport LINK will display all BPM and Key information, giving DJs the most critical track information when looking for the next tune to drop – without needing to load in and analyse the track first. Performance data is also saved to the DJ’s drive and can be recalled the next time the track is loaded. This includes information such as BPM, Key, Hot Cues and Loops.

SoundCloud GO+

With SoundCloud GO+ integration, DJs can swiftly access their entire SoundCloud library, including tracks uploaded to their own profile, created and liked playlists, liked tracks, play history, followed artists and SoundCloud’s own curated playlists. Streaming from SoundCloud GO+ is available in 128kbps and 256kbps bit rate.

As with Beatport LINK, performance data such as BPM, Key, Hot Cues and Loopsi s saved can be recalled the next time the track is loaded.

What else?

Engine OS 1.5 brings other improvements such as a new, more accurate BPM detection algorithm, a new Quick Source Menu for faster music source switching, new microphone capabilities for Smart Consoles, among other additional usability improvements and stability enhancements.

“This integration between Denon and Beatport represents a true breakthrough for dance music technology and culture, one which unlocks instant access to an enormous catalogue of the latest on-demand curated music for professional DJs from wherever they are in the world,” said Beatport’s senior vice president, Romain Pouillon. “That is why we are so proud to launch the first-ever Beatport LINK integration accessible directly from DJ hardware. Denon DJ’s hardware/software combination adds a whole new layer to the LINK experience and sets a revolutionary new workflow precedent: DJs can easily log in to their Beatport LINK account from Denon DJ’s embedded Engine OS hardware and mix records from our entire catalogue immediately without the need for any laptop or USB stick. DJs just bring their headphones to the party and go!”
