Expert microphone designer, DPA has released an immersive audio recording solution for sound designers, podcasters, vloggers, filmmakers and other content creators. The new 4560 CORE Binaural Headset Microphone allows easier capturing of authentic immersive audio for projects.

DPA’s binaural headset delivers the super sound quality the Danish manufacturer is known for across the world. The headset features a microphone at the opening of each ear, capturing the audio in realtime, in the same manner that the wearer’s ear will hear it. Those consuming audio the recorded content on headphones will experience the fully immersive sound. These qualities are appealing in applications such as sound system documentation, soundscape analysis, sound quality assessment and more. Even in traditional music listening, this could be a step forward – recording the sound from a performer’s or conductor’s perspective could bring a new dimension to the usual listening experience.

The 4560 CORE Binaural Headset is home to a pair of DPA 4060 CORE Miniature Microphones, mounted on two ear hooks and sitting just outside the user’s ear canal. The ear hooks are attached to a flexible headset that is “simple to fit, comfortable to wear and can easily be adjusted to suit the dimensions of each individual head” the company says.

“Recordings made with DPA’s 4560 CORE Binaural Headset are so accurate that listeners often turn their head looking for the source of the sound,” says DPA Product Manager Rene Moerch. “Ideally, content recorded with this product should be listened to via headphones as one doesn’t get the same experience if the audio is played back over stereo speakers, but there are techniques that can provide corrections and upmix for stereo and multichannel formats, which makes this product useful for film recordists who want to gather content for atmospheric sound”.

DPA’s new 4560 CORE Binaural Headset Microphone has a price of 860 EUR. For more information please visit DPAMicrophones.com
