Leapwing Audio’s DynOne 3 has received a major upgrade that completely redesigns the multiband parallel compressor from the ground up. Featuring newly developed algorithms and filters, Leapwing Audio’s mission is to offer high quality, state-of-the-art processing. Multiband parallel processing is useful in any genre of music where low-level subtleties get lost in the mix. “DynOne 3 lifts the low-level details”, the company says. Here’s what’s new.

Variable crossover frequencies can be utilised, meaning you can change the crossover frequencies between different bands. You can also change the slope between different bands, with ‘gentle’ and ‘steep’. A new Centre-Side mode takes the principles of mid/side (MS) and applies them into DynOne 3. This allows you to process the sound information in the centre of the stereo image separately from the sides. Leapwing Audio developed their own version of this due to unsatisfactory results when experimenting with MS.

Individual bands can now be disabled and enabled, meaning you could use DynOne 3 as a one-band compression unit. Alternatively, three bands will allow you further tone shaping, and the typical DynOne five-band approach will give you even more flexibility.

A new resizable GUI will improve workflow whilst maintaining the signature design of the plug-in. Master Quality mode can be toggled to max out the processing power of the compressor, alongside Low Latency and Ultra Quality modes. The multiband compressor is now capable of processing up to 384kHz of sample rate, should your DAW and audio interface be compatible.

DynOne 3 is available now for £180, with a free 30-day trial available. Find out more at leapwingaudio.com.
