Superbooth 2020: 1010music has announced a ‘Micro’ version of its Bitbox Eurorack sampler module, which now sports a modest 18HP width in lieu of the original’s 26HP. It still features a colour touchscreen, albeit 2-inches instead of 3.5 inches.

Like the original, the Bitbox Micro boasts more than a handful of features to approach sampling, such as multiple launch modes, a slicer for on-the-fly sample creation, a granular wavetable mode, extensive sample and synth parameter controls and much more.

The touch screen acts as the modules main point of contact, and serves multiple purposes, from navigating system settings to scrolling through waveforms in slicer mode – but its most forefront design is to trigger samples through an 8-pad layout.

Samples can be launched in one-shot, toggle and gate modes, reading from the module’s 64mb internal memory, which offers 24 notes of polyphony.

Additionally, reading off the module’s microSD card slot lets music makers playback up to eight 24-bit stereo samples; 4gb in size – which could be used to feed entire songs into the Slicer Mode for coming up with new samples on-the-fly.

The Bitbox Micro retails for $399.95, and comes out in the first week of June.
