Ableton Live 11.1

Ableton Live 11 owners can now access the Live 11.1 public beta programme. The new version of Live introduces support for Apple M1 Silicon chips, updates to the Shifter effect, two new Max for Live devices, workflow improvements and more.

Apple computers running the M1 Silicon chip will now see native support for Ableton Live, providing an optimised workload without the Rosetta 2 translator. This includes the 2020 13-inch MacBook Air and Pro, Mac Mini and the 2021 iMac.

Meanwhile, all Live 11.1 users will now be able to access an improved Shifter device, with a new mode for real-time monophonic pitch shifting. The effect also boasts new modulation features such as delay, an envelope section, an LFO and glide function.

Max for Live gets new additions in Live 11.1, too, with Align Delay and MIDI Shaper. Align Delay enables you to compensate for latency when recording audio and sending signals throughout your system, while MIDI Shaper generates modulation data to help you perform with more expression when using MIDI instruments.

Ableton has made further improvements on workflow, including new shortcuts for the Arrangement View, a new Devices icon for Live’s Browser, and new options for Capture MIDI. In addition, Clip View panels can be accessed with new keyboard shortcuts, and clip properties are now displayed in tabs instead of additional panels.

Live 11’s most talked-about feature, Comping, gets some minor enhancements, too, with new keyboard shortcuts and colouring options. Ableton has included an extensive array of minor changes and bug fixes to Live 11.1, which you can view in the release notes.
