Apple’s M1X MacBook Pro reportedly still on track for a fall release

Apple’s MacBook Pro with the new M1X chip is reportedly on track for a 2021 fall release according to Bloomberg journalist and Apple tipster Mark Gurman.
In Sunday’s Power On newsletter, Gurman said that the highly anticipated M1X chip is “still on tap for 2021” and will likely be found in the new MacBook Pro models sometime “in the next month”. Allegedly, these updates will show up on a higher-end Mac mini “at some point”.
The M1X will reportedly offer a more “graphics-intense and professional-focused” experience compared to last year’s M1 chip. Gurman claims that there are two versions of the M1X, both of which feature a 10-core design comprising eight high-performance cores and two high-efficiency cores. The difference will reportedly be in the GPU, with Apple offering 16 as well as 32 core variants.
Gurman also claimed that the Cupertino giant is working on “higher-performance chips” for a future Mac Pro, and an M2 for the MacBook Air, iMac and lower-end MacBook Pro models.
The MacBook Pro is expected to be available in 14-inch and 16-inch configurations with a redesigned chassis. Last month, Gurman’s forecast for the MacBook Pro included a mini-LED backlit display, an SD card slot, a HDMI port and MagSafe magnetic charging. The Touch Bar will allegedly be dropped from the MacBook Pro lineup.
Given that Apple typically unveils its major Mac offerings in October or early November, users can look out for a release in the horizon.
