Blue Cat Audio Re-Guitar

Blue Cat Audio has released Re-Guitar, a plug-in that emulates a variety of electric and acoustic guitar tones. Here’s a closer look:

Emulation

For electric tones, Re-Guitar provides a wide range of pickup emulations, ranging from single-coil to humbuckers. On the acoustic front, there are piezo and body shape options.

  • Single Coil: Single hot, vintage, modern, active, tele, neck and mid, bridge and mid, P90 and P90J
  • Humbucker: Vintage, classic, ricky, modern, rails, bright, wide, wide (jazz) and jazz box
  • Acoustic: Solidbody piezo, acoustic sim pedals, modern & dreadnought, jumbo, mini jumbo, 000 and small

Re-Guitar also allows you to create your own custom emulations. If you want to achieve a hollowbody sound, there’s also a feature to “dig the body”, according to the brand.

Virtual tone adjustments

To shape your acoustic and electric tones further, Re-Guitar is equipped with virtual controls. These include brightness and gain adjustments along with virtual tone and volume pots. Interestingly, these controls can also be automated during a performance, Blue Cat Audio claims.

Compatibility with Blue Cat’s Axiom 1.2

Re-Guitar can be integrated with Blue Cat Audio’s recently updated Axiom software. The latter, a multi-effects processor and amp simulation platform, now allows you to save Re-Guitar presets.

Re-Guitar is available on its own, or together with the Axiom in an Axe Pack, retailing at $69 (RRP $99) and $248 (RRP $229), respectively. More info at bluecataudio.com.
