It’s been a year since the DAW previously known as Sonar became Cakewalk by BandLab, and to mark the milestone, the company is giving its users a chance to win a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 audio interface.

When Sonar morphed into Cakewalk by BandLab, subscriptions were done away with to provide a free professional DAW for everyone. Since then, there have been numerous other upgrades, including regular stability/performance-related updates, third-party integration (including élastique, ARA and VST support functions) and more.

On its blog, Cakewalk by BandLab hints at some upcoming developments, but in the meantime, one lucky user stands to win the aforementioned Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 audio interface.

If you’d like to take a stab at it, all you need to do is participate in a poll to vote on which aspect of the DAW should be developed next. You’ll need a BandLab account to enter via the Cakewalk forum. Competition ends 8 May.

[Editor’s note: Cakewalk by BandLab is owned by BandLab Technologies, which also owns MusicTech.net]
