Cinematique Instruments are giving away the Geiger Counter instrument for the April edition of its monthly giveaway. This is the 13th entry of the Klang series of free instruments, which was released in tandem with the brand’s 10th anniversary.

Geiger Counter generates “glitches, noises, blips and bits” by passing a signal first through an adjustable low-pass filter, and then a 16-step sequencer to create some interesting textural rhythms.

The main section of the instrument consists of just three controls: filter, noise and glitch. Additionally, it includes an internally routed reverb and delay, as well as two master effects named lo-fi and robot.

Releases in the Klang series have consisted of unpublished instruments and sound experiments from Cinematique Instruments. On its website, the company says that “Klang will show how we see music, what we love and how important we find the sound in music.” adding that “there is no better name for it than: Klang (which is German and means ‘sound’)”

The Klang series continues to be offered for free, though you’ll need a copy of Kontakt in order to use the instruments.
