Audio manufacturer Grado Labs has partnered with Pokémon Center to release four styles of special edition headphones.

The headphones are based on the Grado Prestige Series SR80x and are available in wood and metal, with two colourways to choose from for each version:

  • Poké Ball Headphones (Wood with Red Headband)
  • Poké Ball Headphones (Wood with Black Headband)
  • Poké Ball Headphones (Aluminum)
  • Pikachu Headphones (Black Aluminum)

The wooden version retails at $495.99, and uses maple wood for the headphone’s housing due to its warm yet rich tonal qualities. Grado bridges design and function with an intricate curing process alongside a brand-new ventilation system in the shape of a Poké Ball. On each side, genuine natural wood surrounds a stylised Poké Ball in classic red and white, with the Pokémon Center × Grado Labs collection name emblazoned around the Poké Ball.

On the other hand, the metal version retails at $295.99 and features two designs – one with the Poké Ball just like the wooden version and the other a Pikachu silhouette. The Pokémon Center × Grado Labs collection name will also be emblazoned on the housing. According to Grado, the metal version brings “surgical precision” to your music and better imaging of the space between instruments.

The headphones employ Grado’s fourth generation “X” drivers that the brand claims are specifically tuned for the housings they’re built in. The new speaker design features a more powerful magnetic circuit, a voice coil with decreased effective mass, and a reconfigured diaphragm. Reengineering these components for the 44mm X drivers improves efficiency, reduces distortion, and preserves the harmonic integrity of the listener’s music.

Much like Grado’s other offerings, each Pokémon Center x Grado headphone will be hand-built in Brooklyn. The headphones are available for sale at pokemoncenter.com and each customer is only allowed to purchase one of each version. Shipping is only available to continental US, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Canada.
