IKEA and Sonos might be working on new additions to their popular Symfonisk product line that combines wireless speakers with furniture.

Yesterday (7 April), the Swedish furniture giant shared an Instagram Story announcing that its collaboration with Sonos, which began in 2018, had sprung back to life. Although neither company had disclosed any details on the products, IKEA’s filings with the US Federal Communications Commission suggest that two new products are being planned for the Symfonisk line.

According to The Verge, one of the products will be an update to the Symfonisk table lamp. The current model integrates a Sonos:1-type speaker into a lamp body. The alleged new model will reportedly cost $179.

The other product is reported to be a hybrid wireless speaker and wall art: either in the form of an entire art piece or as an attachment for an existing frame, The Verge reported.

“The partnership [Sonos and Ikea] is stronger than ever and we’re excited about the products we’re working on together,” Sonos told tech website Pocket-lint. “We look forward to sharing more when the time is right.”

In other Sonos news, the brand is gearing up for the 20 April launch of the Sonos Roam. The highlight of the battery-powered smart speaker is its ability to tune itself to its environment to provide a more balanced listening experience.
