Kali Audio’s $99 MV-BT links Bluetooth devices to professional gear
Say goodbye to the studio aux cable with this Bluetooth receiver.
California-based startup Kali Audio has already made waves in the Pro Audio community since opening its doors in 2018. The brand’s exception debut product, the Project Lone Pine LP-6 studio monitors, punch “well above their price point” of $149, MusicTech wrote.
Now the brand has revealed another affordable Pro Audio gadget: the $99 MV-BT Bluetooth receiver.
The MV-BT is designed to be the missing link between Bluetooth devices and professional audio gear. You’ll need to pair a compatible device with the receiver, which, in turn, has balanced outputs to be hooked up to speakers, mixers, controllers and other interfaces. There are two types of balanced stereo outputs onboard: XLR and 1/4-inch.
Apart from balanced outputs, what sets this new Bluetooth receiver apart is a physical level knob, so you have immediate control when track referencing.
The receiver supports the aptX Bluetooth audio codec that Kali Audio says will provide “CD-quality” streaming. Android and Mac users will be able to take advantage of this higher-quality streaming but the MV-BT will also work with the more basic SBC codec, which is used by all Bluetooth audio-enabled devices. There is, however, no word yet on whether the receiver will support Apple’s AAC Bluetooth audio format.
