M-Audio Oxygen Pro

After decades of success with its MIDI keyboard controllers, M-Audio has introduced an update to its renowned Oxygen series. Available in 25, 49, 61 and Mini sizes, the Oxygen Pro keyboard controllers build on the familiar designs of their predecessors but, of course, sport some new features fit for 2020.

M-Audio says that these keyboards are ideal for producers looking for professional-grade control over their DAW and plug-ins with an easy-to-use MIDI keyboard. The Oxygen Pro’s OLED screen provides quick visual access to parameters and track info, which might prove usual on stage as well as in the studio. With the exception of the Oxygen Pro Mini, these bus-powered controllers feature velocity-sensitive semi-weighted keys, aftertouch and assignable zones for expressive performances.

Oxygen Pro controllers feature 16 RGB backlit velocity-sensitive pads, which can be easily assigned to trigger clips and samples. The note repeat function will be especially useful for beatmakers who create hi-hat rolls and snare rolls. Eight assignable knobs next to the pads provide swift navigation over parameters in plug-ins and on desired channel strips. Nine assignable faders on the 61 and 49-key versions of the controller can be used to adjust levels and any other function. Oxygen Pro Mini keeps things compact with eight RGB pads, four faders and four assignable knobs.

Smart Chord mode lets you play full chords when pressing a single note, while Smart Scale lets you play only within a chosen scale for an in-key performance. An arpeggiator is also built-in with type, octave, gate and swing controls. Pitch and mod wheels are onboard the controllers, as well as a 5-pin MIDI output and sustain pedal input, too.

M-Audio’s new controllers integrate neatly into a range of DAWs, including MPC Beats, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Studio One and Cubase. Plus, the Oxygen series auto-maps to Air Music Tech virtual instruments, which are bundled in with every purchase of the controller. You’ll also have access to M-Audio’s MIDI editor and a range of MPC Beats Expansion Packs.

M-Audio Oxygen Pro series starts at £100 for the Mini, £155 for the Pro 25, £190 for the Pro 49 and £225 for the Pro 61. All models are immediately available.
