MOD Dwarf climbs past its Kickstarter goal in just one day
The modular effects pedal can be loaded with effects and instruments for use onstage.
The MOD Dwarf has been on Kickstarter for just a day, but has already surpassed its pledging goal of €100,000. With new plug-ins available to download to the stompbox on a monthly basis, the MOD Dwarf is a standalone, compact device that can offer effects, amp simulations, cabinets, virtual instruments, synthesizers, and MIDI utilities, plus anything else you’d like to install and take to your gig with you.
MOD has seen prior success on Kickstarter with the MOD Duo and the MOD Duo X, but the company says that the Dwarf is “the product we always wanted to make”. Although originally touted as a companion for guitarists, its functionality could pique the interest of synth heads and keyboard players, with USB MIDI connectivity.
Two fully independent audio channels are featured on the MOD Duo, with separate gain control for each signal you insert. Three push-buttons are easily accessible on the front panel to set up patches to the device using the display screen. You can also access the interface from your tablet, computer or smartphone to create complex rigs.
You can access and assign plug-ins to the Dwarf through the MOD Plugin Shop, which offers more than 300 plug-ins ready to download. MOD Labs will allow the more technologically minded user to delve into open-source plug-in development, with Arduino-based hardware creation and beta tester programs. “But you don’t need to be a creative coder to explore these lands”, MOD remarks, “Any user can easily opt-in to delve into more 400 plugins hosted inside the MOD Labs and take their sound ambitions to new realms of experimentation”.
Designed in Germany with extreme care and consideration in every component from the knobs to footswitches, the MOD Dwarf is intended to be a long-lasting piece of your gear inventory. The stompbox runs on a Quad-core 64 bit ARM CPU at 1.3GHz, with 8GB storage and 1GB RAM.
To get your hands on your own MOD Dwarf, you can pledge €255 or more on Kickstarter for an estimated delivery of October 2020.
