Minimoog Model D App

[UPDATE: 20 March, 13:45. Get a free bank of presets from James Edward Cosby, see below]

Moog, the 67-year-old company legendary for its revered synthesisers, has offered up its Minimoog Model D iOS app for free in an effort to “spread positivity, creativity, and expressivity”, it says.

The mobile recreation of the legendary monosynth is usually $14.99/£14.99 on the App Store and can run as an AUv3 plug-in for supporting host apps. The synth app is designed to look and sound exactly like the real thing – and does a pretty stellar job.

Moog says of its decision that this is “a gift to spread positivity, creativity, and expressivity. A moment to slow down, appreciate our innate strength, and experience the uplifting power of sound. A chance to share the way we hear the world around us”.

It continues: “As we find ourselves in unfamiliar settings: stay open, stay safe, and #synthesizelove.

You can also get your hands on a free preset bank for the iOS instrument courtesy of sound designer James Edward Cosby. The bank includes 48 different sounds, and is easily downloadable by opening this link on your iOS web browser.

The brand has not specified and ending date for this offer, so it may be best to take advantage of it while you can.
