NAMM 2021: ROLI updates LUMI with per-note pitch bend and it’s nuts
There’s no other controller at this price that does what LUMI does.
ROLI has just released a major feature update to its LUMI controller keyboards unlocking per-note pitch bend. In doing so, ROLI has married the Seaboard’s promise of expressivity with the familiarity of a traditional keyboard. In short, ROLI’s LUMI might have just become a must-own controller.
ROLI’s LUMI has just become the most affordable, and perhaps only, keyboard controller to offer per-note pitch bend. The only other contender that springs to mind is Expressive E’s Osmose, an 1800 Euro self-contained instrument.
The implementation of the new feature is slick. Thanks to LUMI’s RGB backlit keyboard, keys change colour the more you bend them – a feature that’s sure to impress.
An update to ROLI Dashboard, LUMI’s control software also allows you to save four modes, each with distinct colour schemes, and use of per-note pitch-bend and pressure.
This update transforms LUMI from a nice-to-have controller into something far more powerful, expressive, and almost certainly worth the price tag.
