Native Instruments drops first audio demos of Massive X

Native Instruments (NI) has added a second blog post to its Massive X Lab series, this time providing details and audio snippets of the Massive X’s wavetable oscillators.

According to the post, the Massive X will feature two wavetable oscillators, each with identical functions and three Saturn controls. Alongside the oscillators are 10 modes – each mode represents a different way of generating sound from “cycling/reading through wavetables”.

One of the modes on the list is Standard, which takes its cues from the original Massive’s Spectrum mode. This mode plays the wavetable “without much interference” – as NI claims – and also comes with a low-pass filter designed to minimise spectral content. Listen to a sample of Standard mode below:

Another interesting mode is ART, or Artificial Resonance Technology. In this setting, hard-sync and clever processing are combined to create a sound similar to that of a highly resonant bandpass filter. You can listen to an audio demo of the ART mode below:
