Nektar’s new Impact GX Mini is a $70 MIDI keyboard controller with DAW controls

The controller also features a MIDI-assignable joystick controller and three velocity curves for its keys.

Nektar’s Impact GX Mini is a portable USB MIDI keyboard controller that packs strong features in a small and affordable package.

The two-octave keyboard has 25 velocity-sensitive mini-keys and a choice of three velocity curves for getting the right playing response. The modulation joystick is pre-assigned to pitch-bend on the horizontal axis, while the y-axis is MIDI-assignable to parameters of your choice.

The Part Two performance feature lets you push a button to momentarily transpose the keyboard up or down an octave – a clever workaround to the controller’s limited number of keys.

The Impact GX Mini also features DAW controls that work with most popular software. They include transport and track navigation controls, plus buttons to activate your click track, cycle mode and more. These are also MIDI-assignable.

Each controller comes packaged with Bitwig 8-Track DAW, which includes more than 50 software instruments and effects, as well as loops and samples to get you started.

The controller is USB class-compliant, meaning no additional drivers are needed to get it running on Windows and macOS out of the box. The Impact GX Mini also works with iOS via a separate adaptor.
