Process.Audio, a new software division of online educators PureMix, is launching its first product: Sugar.
Informed by award-winning mixing engineers, this analogue-inspired plug-in is designed to sweeten up your mix.
Professional engineers often employ complex processes that can be costly and difficult to set up. With Sugar, Process.Audio aims to centralise these procedures in an intuitive platform, letting you bolster your tracks with punch, thickness, warmth, grit, and more.
Four effects, eight colours
The plug-in features four parallel-routed processing bands – low, mid, high and air – which can work in mono, stereo or Mid-Side modes.
You’ll also be able to allocate two different character colours to each band. The plug-in comes with eight colour choices, including Thick, Punch, Warm, Broad, Shine, Excite, Yin, and Yang.
With the above parameters set, you can make use of a jog wheel control to adjust the overall blend of the Sugar effect.
Linear phase filters
Sugar also offers high- and low-pass filters to fine-tune the mix. These are built on linear phase technology to help eliminate phase issues related to parallel processing, preserving the source signal’s integrity.
As a final touch, you can add any of three saturation circuits – Drive, Distort and Destroy – to the mix. According to the brand, these algorithms can “tame unruly transients, add more grit to your sound, or simply destroy it in devastatingly creative ways”.
Here are some additional features:
- Level Management: To prevent bursts of energy
- FX-only switch: Lets you hear only what Sugar adds
- Input/Output gain: Individual controls for each
With the launch of Sugar, Process Audio will also create a learning center to familiarise users with the plug-in. This resource is loaded with video tutorials on the plug-in’s uses and a comprehensive breakdown of its features.
