Roland has released its new Fantom-O range of synthesizers, bringing the features of its flagship Fantom series to a more affordable and lightweight form factor.
The new Fantom-06, Fantom-07 and Fantom-08, have been designed as more compact versions of its flagship Fantom synth workstations, with versatility and portability in mind.
With “moulded body designs that are sleek, attractive, and ultra-rugged”, Roland’s new synth range is designed to be carried from the practice room to the stage.
The synth sports a clear and responsive high-resolution colour touchscreen, giving the user hands-on control of their sound from the front panel. The hardware also provides high-resolution knobs, wheels, buttons, sliders, 16 RGB performance pads, and a dedicated synth control section.
Bringing high-quality tech to a brand new audience, the synthesizers feature “thousands of Roland’s best sounds,” according to the brand, with further expansion through the Roland Cloud subscription service. This includes sounds from vintage studio icons such as the Juno-106, Jupiter-8 and more. The sounds are powered by three Roland engines: ZEN-Core, SuperNATURAL, and Virtual ToneWheel Organ, and are all compatible with Fantom Scenes.
The new Fantom-0 series also allows for easy integration into your production setup, as it acts as a 4×32 USB audio interface and offers native compatibility with Logic Pro, MainStage, and Ableton Live. Going further, you can also combine software synths with Fantom-0’s onboard sounds and interface with your favourite external MIDI hardware via the dedicated MIDI output.
Despite all three models being identical in architecture, the 61-note Fantom-06 and 76-note Fantom-07 come with newly developed synth action keyboards, while the Fantom-08 boasts 88 weighted-action keys.
All three synth models will be available in April 2022. The Fantom-06 will be priced at $1,500, the Fantom-07 at $1,800 and the Fantom-08 at $2,000.
