Roland has announced 10 new sound packs for Zen-core devices, which includes their in-the-box Zenology plug-in. These are said to bring along new drum kits, vintage analogue-type tones and other hybrid sounds, specific to a certain genre or instrument type.
The releases are broken up into two categories: Production Packs and Instrument Packs. Here’s a look at three of each, below.
Production Packs
SDZ011 LazerQ
This pack concerns itself with the grittier sonic aspects of acid house and industrial tracks, giving you 15 “dark” sounding synth tones to play with. Listen to what it sounds like here.
SDZ013 Opener
As its name implies, this electronica-focused sound pack brings along sweeping synths and vibey pianos – which could serve R&B productions just as well.
SDZ015 Classic Groove
Dripping with undertones of classic hip-hop and R&B, this pack supplies you with soulfully vintage sounds – including 15 tones and a drum kit.
Instrument Packs
SDZ016 Electro Bass
Exploring the deep end of the sonic spectrum, this sound pack emphasises synth-bass tones, with 15 sounds and a drum kit.
SDZ017 Analog Plucks
Pluck synth sounds; short and sweet; 16 of them.
SDZ018 Synth Strings and Pads
This sound pack arms you with 16 synth strings and pad sounds which, when paired with the right reverb, could be potent for especially atmospheric productions.
