Shure has announced the second generation of its Aonic 215 earphones, which now feature a true wireless design, water-resistance and physical controls.

The second-generation Aonic 215 is now rated at IPX4, making them resilient against sweat and rain for workouts and wet weather conditions. Meanwhile, customisable physical controls can be set for playback, volume and call-answering functions.

And speaking of calls, Shure also equips these earphones with four beam-forming mics for clearer phone conversations.

The ShurePlus Play companion app is where users get to customise physical button functions and also adjust the EQ. There are presets built-in to choose from, but users can also create a custom EQ profile to suit their taste.

The earphones offer eight hours of playback on a full-charge and up to 32 hours with the charging case. Like the original, the over-ear hooks are detachable should you decide to run these as a wired pair – however, you will have to supply your own cable to do so. Meanwhile, an automatic power-on feature turns the earphones on as soon as they’re taken out from the case.

Shure Aonic 215 earphones are available now in black or blue for £209.
