Orchestral Tools has announced a new free subscription service providing custom-built instruments for SINE Player. Subscribers to SINEfactory will receive information on new releases by email and collections will be added to their account automatically. The service will remain free and kickstarts immediately with three new instruments.

SINEfactory is built with the intention to provide producers and composers with useful and varied instruments for Orchestral Tools’ SINE Player. These won’t be stripped-down versions of large products or leftover sounds, but complete instruments in their own right. Orchestral Tools says that each instrument is meticulously recorded and sound at home in professional productions.

The first instrument release comprises Ratio, Gearbox and Helix. Ratio is a sampled Steinway B grand piano that’s primed to feature in most musical environments, be it a soundtrack or a pop song. The samples were recorded at Sunset Sound studio in LA on the piano used by Earth, Wind and Fire, Stevie Nicks, Prince among a plethora of revered artists.

Gearbox is a studio percussion set that goes beyond the limits of a drumkit. You’ll get bass drums, congas, udu, tambourines and shakers, plus body percussion sounds such as claps and finger clicks. Aaron Williams, an expert multi-instrumentalist, performed the set at Sunset Sound studio.

Helix is a string ensemble that’s derived from Orchestral Tools’ Berlin Series. Helix offers playable sustains and spiccatos, with solo violins, celli and basses. The detailed instrument can be used across all styles and genres, Orchestral Tools tells us.

Signing up to SINEfactory simply involves creating an account with your email address. You can then install SINE Player, where you will see the three instruments already available to use. You’ll then receive further SINEfactory instruments as they’re released in the near future.
