The Sontronics DrumPack Plus

Sontronics has unveiled two new drum mic sets: the DrumPack and DrumPack Plus. These sets contain the brand’s DM-series condenser mics and, according to the brand, will help you save more than 30% of the cost of individual mics.

The five-piece DrumPack consists of the DM-1B, DM-1S and three DM-1T units. The seven-piece DrumPack Plus, on the other hand, has all the above mics plus two STC-10 pencil condenser units. Here’s the rundown of each mic:

DM-1B

This large-diaphragm condenser mic is designed to capture the full dynamic range of kick drums. Its features include high sensitivity, low levels of self-noise, a -15dB attenuation pad and SPL handling of 155dB.

DM-1S and DM-1T

These two small-diaphragm condenser units are tuned for the rattles of snares (DM-1S) and the depths of tom toms (DM-1T). Each unit also features a -10dB attenuation pad and SPL handling of up to 135dB.

STC-10

Sontronics STC-10

The STC-10 is a small-diaphragm condenser mic that’s ideal for drum overheads when used in pairs. When used individually, the mic is well suited to record solo percussion. The mic also features a -10dB pad switch, a 75Hz filter and the brand’s smooth high-frequency roll-off.

The DrumPack and DrumPack Plus retail at £599 and £739, respectively. More info at sontronics.com.
