Synchro Arts‘ VocAlign 5 adds yet more features to help save you time getting doubled or harmonised vocal sections synced up. New to this edition are SmartAlign, tightness control and alignment presets.

SmartAlign automatically matches vocal sections, even if your dubs only happen at certain instances against a main vocal track. For example, if you have a chorus vocal happening and have harmonies punctuating certain words, SmartAlign will help you sync just those parts, even if they are of a different length.

Tightness controls let you decide how in-sync your doubles or harmonies are against the original performance. This could be useful if you need to line up parts but still want a natural feel – simply dial back on the tightness and more of the original timing will be retained.

VocAlign’s alignment presets offer a quick start to getting those vocal sections down, covering a variety of common scenarios from loose timing to super-tight. These can also be tweaked further to get just the performance you want.

Rounding up VocAlign Project 5 are improvements to its interface: there’s an enhanced waveform display and the plug-in is now fully resizable. Also, there’s support for iLok protection, so you don’t need a USB dongle to access it. Each license comes with two activations.

VocAlign Project 5 is available now at an introductory price of $99/€79/£73 (a 33 per cent discount). There’s also a demo available for both Mac and PC.
