The Division Department 04/IV synth

Fresh from The Division Department’s locker is 01/IV, a four-channel analogue drum synthesizer that takes cues from Pollard’s Syndrum, Roland’s 808 and 909 as well as the Pearl Syncussion SY-1.

The 01/IV arrives with a variety of staple drum sounds including kicks, toms, snares, claps, hi-hats and cymbals. For the more adventurous, however, the device is also capable of droning effects and intricate, modulating sounds.

Central to the synth are its four voice channels, which can each be assigned to a different drum sound. You can play with different channel arrangements to get varying sonic results. Options include combining channels, grouping channels in pairs for FM-style modulation, or simply layering channels over each other.

Onboard the 01/IV, you’ll find 60 front panel controls comprising knobs, switches and triggers buttons. The synth also has MIDI compatibility, which includes MIDI note triggering and selected MIDI CC controls.

Additionally, the 01/IV boasts a fully analogue audio path as well as digital modulation with an LFO, ramp and re-trigger generator. A mixed output and individual voice outputs are available depending on how you want to craft your sound after it leaves the instrument.
