Tracktion updates its Waveform Free DAW with workflow improvements for 2021
Slicker editing, MIDI Typing and more come to the unlimited free workstation
Waveform Free is touted by Tracktion as “the world’s best, fully-featured, completely unlimited DAW” and says that it’s now even better. The 2021 edition of Waveform Free brings new editing and performance improvements for a streamlined workflow.

Tracktion is introducing the Welcome Screen, which offers project templates, training material, new product news and swift set-up of audio devices. This aims to give users a fuss-free experience in getting started on a new project.
Editing features such as Range Selection, Ripple Delete and Heal, Consolidate, Silence are included in Waveform Free 2021. A dedicated Step Clip editor comes with the upgrade for easier clip programming.
MIDI Typing lets you use your computer keyboard as a musical one – a feature commonly found in other DAWs. This will prove useful when travelling and in the absence of a MIDI controller. An Actions Panel gives quick access to your most-used actions and lets you create custom actions, mapped to a button of your choice.
Tracktion concludes its announcement by saying: “With further improved performance and delay compensation, Waveform Free 2021 continues to provide musicians with both highly creative and stable tools”.
Waveform Free is available for Windows, macOS, Linux and Raspberry Pi. It can be downloaded via the Tracktion website.
