The new Genelec 4430 is designed to provide exceptional sound quality to the AV world, using Smart IP technology developed by Genelec. Smart IP is a convenient single-cable solution to give scalable power, audio and loudspeaker configuration, supervision and calibration features via a standard CAT cable, offering “unrivalled power, flexibility, cost-effectiveness and simplicity of installation” the brand says.
Housed in a compact form factor, the 4430 accepts Dante and AES67 IP audio streams, acquiring power via PoE and PoE+ formats, with an internal power supply helping to deliver 104dB of short term SPL, via two integral 50W Class D amp stages feeding to the woofer and tweeter. The rear panel CAT connector also allows access to Genelec’s Smart IP Manager, which is a software tool for Windows 10 that allows installers to configure an almost unlimited number of rooms, zones, loudspeakers and audio channels. It includes device discovery, a versatile room EQ toolset, system organisation and status monitoring. External control from third-party hardware, software or house automation is also supported.
Genelec’s 4430 can support up to eight audio channels in a stream with sample rates of up to 96kHz/24bit resolution. Streams can be managed with Dante Controller and Dante Domain Manager software, as well as legacy balanced line analogue audio. The monitor’s frequency response ranges from 45Hz to 23kHz, utilising a five-inch woofer and a three-quarter-inch metal dome tweeter. Genelec says its “trademark Minimum Diffraction Enclosure and Directivity Control Waveguide technologies ensure a natural, uncoloured sound both on and off-axis”.
The enclosure itself is produced from recycled aluminium and is available in black, white or 120 custom RAL colours, and is compatible with Genelec’s range of mounting accessories to allow the 4430 to be floor, ceiling, wall or truss mounted.
