iRig Pre 2 is a pocket-sized preamp and interface for phones and DSLR cameras
Audio recordists can capture high-quality audio wherever they go with IK Multimedia’s latest
IK Multimedia has introduced another update to its iRig series with iRig Pre 2. The portable preamp and audio interface provides 48v phantom power and an XLR input for recording to iOS devices, Android phones and DSLR cameras.
The iRig Pre 2 sports a 3.5mm TRS headphone output for direct monitoring and auto-switching to instantly adapt to work with digital camera inputs. A 3.5mm TRS jack connects to your phone or camera, provided it has an input for it – some iPhone users may need an adapter.
iRig Pre 2 is powered by two AA batteries. You’ll get seven hours of recording when using 48v phantom power for condenser mics and up to 20 hours without it for dynamic and ribbon mics. You’ll get a maximum of 48dB gain from the dainty device, so make sure you have a mic that won’t exceed this requirement.
A velcro strip is included to attach the preamp to a mic stand, camera mount, or any other surface that you want.
IK Multimedia’s iRig Pre 2 is available from March 2021 at a price of €50/$50.
