ARC System 3 corrects your room acoustics for a more accurate mix
The third iteration of IK Multimedia’s acoustic correction system has arrived.
IK Multimedia has released ARC System 3 just in time for all of us now recording and producing music in our home studios.
The software is an acoustic correction system that measures the acoustics of your room at three different heights to detect flaws which may have a negative impact on the accuracy of your audio monitoring. By correcting these flaws in-the-box, ARC System 3 is designed to let you “mix better, faster and more confidently”, IK Multimedia says. The software creates a room profile that can be loaded via the ARC plug-in for use in any DAW.
What’s new?
By using an ultra-accurate measurement mic, room analysis software and a correction plug-in, ARC System 3 gives you a simple solution to achieve professional results. This new version brings a new and improved analysis algorithm, which delivers more natural, accurate sound thanks to the acoustic measurements at three different heights. IK’s Volumetric Response Modeling technology creates a 3D snapshot of the room to detect reflection issues, without over-processing the sound.
ARC System 3 features controls that can fine-tune corrections to achieve ideal performance in any room. Adjustable Correction Range allows users to set limits to upper and lower correction ranges individually, which can preserve a monitor’s unique voicing, or correct a specific frequency band. Variable resolution and smoothing adjusts the correction filter’s resolution for more precise correction, or for a broader, smoother balance. Natural and Linear phase modes can be used to ensure precise stereo imaging.
Virtual monitoring
A virtual monitoring feature allows you to hear your mixes on TVs, smartphones, car audio systems and a range of popular studio monitors. The emulation technology gives you scope to maintain a perfect sound translation across common consumer and professional listening habits.
ARC System 3 gives you Peak, RMS, Loudness and dynamic range metering options to speed up your workflow. You can A/B the results using a realtime spectral analyser, which shows the pre-correction signal to indicate how the room was affecting the sound.
