IK Multimedia’s Safe Spacer is helping people work during COVID-19
Industrial and office workers can get some peace of mind with the new wearable.
Italian music gear manufacturer, IK Multimedia, has offered up a device that can help workers maintain social distancing onsite. Safe Spacer is a lightweight wearable that could benefit music industry and factory workers in avoiding the spread of COVID-19.
The company’s goal with Safe Spacer is to allow manufacturers to re-open safely, offering peace of mind for employees. Safe Spacer works using ultra-wideband technology, wirelessly detecting other devices that come within a 2 metre (6 feet) proximity. Wearers are alerted with their choice of a visual, vibrating or audio alarm.
Safe Spacer works immediately out of the box, with no set-up needed and can be worn on a wristband, lanyard, or carried in a pocket. The resolution of its measurements goes down to 10cm, which IK Multimedia notes is ten times more accurate than that of Bluetooth solutions.
The device is also waterproof and engineered for easy disinfecting. Minimal handling is required, thanks to NFC and Bluetooth capabilities. This enables advanced use and set-up via an iOS/Android app, allowing human resources or safety departments to associate devices’ unique IDs to specific workers, log daily tracing without collecting sensitive data, configure the alarms, set custom distance and alert thresholds, export log data and more.
IK Multimedia’s CEO, Enrico Lori, said of the product: “We created Safe Spacer to help our Italian factory workers maintain safe distance during re-opening. It’s easy to use, fast to deploy, private and secure, so it can be used comfortably in any situation. We hope this solution helps other companies feel secure as they re-open, too.”
The product will launch in early Q3 of this year and could prove essential for manufacturers in the audio world, both big and small.
The product will be available for $/€99.99 (excluding tax), with discounts available for bulk orders. Find out more at safespacer.net
