Behringer has announced Hiroaki Nishijima, the inventor of Korg’s MS-20 synth, as the lead of its new innovation centre in Tokyo.
The German company announced the news in a Facebook post, which includes details about the new R&D centre: “Behringer’s vision is to build a large research and development centre and invite many talented Japanese engineers to focus on flagship synthesizers, samplers and other innovative product designs.”
Behringer also introduced Nishijima’s background along with some notable soundbites from the synth icon. “Over the past few years I have watched Behringer deliver high-quality synthesizers and pursue a very strong mission to deliver impressive instruments to musicians around the world,” he commented.
In a follow-up Facebook post, Behringer founder Uli Behringer celebrated Nishijima’s arrival and signalled the company’s intention to “turn the synth world upside down” with the help of “passionate engineers from Roland, Korg and Yamaha”.
