Facebook to launch ‘online ticketing’ plan for live videos

This option to charge entry to online events aims to bolster creators and small businesses.

Facebook appears to be rolling out a new feature which will allow content creators and business Pages to charge a ‘ticket’ price to Live video events.

This upcoming plan was made known in a blog post on 24 April, when Facebook announced its new Messenger Rooms feature. In their post, Facebook wrote: “To support creators and small businesses, we plan to add the ability for Pages to charge for access to events with Live videos on Facebook – anything from online performances to classes to professional conferences.” See the full post here.

Further details on when this ‘online ticketing’ plan for live events will launch, how it will work, how it intends to pay its users, and what cut Facebook will take, have yet to be announced.
