Focusrite has announced that official support of 3rd Gen Scarlett Solo and Scarlett 2i2 has extended to the USB-C iPad Pro. This support perhaps allows the iPad Pro to continue its journey as a genuine tool for music production. “Now”, Focusrite says, “Scarlett interfaces really can go anywhere: wherever you’d take an iPad Pro, Scarlett can follow”

Hooking up the iPad Pro to a Scarlett interface is as simple as plugging in, loading a music-making app and hitting record. Focusrite has tested the Scarlett Solo and 2i2 devices with several iOS music-making apps running on USB-C iPad Pros to ensure stability. The apps include Garageband, Cubasis 2, Auria Pro, Ampify Launchpad, Ampify Groovebox and Ampify Blocs Wave, as well as FL Studio.

The Focusrite devices can be used with USB-C iPad Pros in bus-powered mode over several hours, allowing for a fully mobile music-making setup. That said, the brand recommends using a powered connection wherever possible, which would require a USB-C hub. Focusrite’s Easy Start Tool will help iPad Pro users get started quickly with their interfaces.

It may be possible to use Scarlett interfaces on other iPad Pro devices, and to operate other Scarlett interfaces on iPad Pro and other iOS devices, official support is only provided for USB-C iPad Pro and 3rd Generation Scarlett 2i2 and Solo interfaces.
