Audio technology firm iZotope recently announced the debut of its brand new Dialogue Match plug-in, the first tool to automatically learn and match the sonic character of dialogue recordings. According to the makers of the Emmy Award-winning software RX, Dialogue Match is also the first product to combine machine-learning with reverb technology from the recently-acquired Exponential Audio product line.
Hours of work completed in seconds
Creating a cohesive dialogue performance – matching production dialogue to Automated Dialogue Replacement – is a process that usually takes up to a few hours, but iZotope claims Dialogue Match can achieve the same result in mere seconds. It does this by using audio analysis to extract a sonic profile that can then be applied to any dialogue track for environmental consistency.
Completing the picture
The Dialogue Match utilises three modules in its function: the EQ Module, Reverb Module and Ambience Module. Each module works together to capture and reflect key aspects of dialogue recordings such as tonal characteristics, spatial reflections, spectral noise and room tone. Through this, a coherent reference profile can be created to which localised audio can be matched, ensuring seamless dialogue.
Mike Rozett, iZotope’s Senior Product Manager, is confident that Dialogue Match will be a major new tool in post-production, saying: “Users who have tested Dialogue Match are telling us that it will change the way they approach dialogue editing forever.”
Dialogue Match is available as both a standalone AAX AudioSuite Plugin for Pro Tools ($599) or as part of one of the following bundles: Post Production Surround Reverb Bundle ($1,199), RX 7 Advanced Reverb Bundle ($1,499) and RX Post Production Suite 4 ($1,999).
