“I am a perfectionist in the studio and was determined to bring that same level of attention and detail to my first public sample library”, says Tom Holkenberg, AKA Junkie XL. “I want this to inspire my fellow composers, at whatever level they may be working, and give them access to the best possible product that I could make”. Enter Junkie XL Brass, the Hollywood Composer’s impressive sample library, packed with 690GB of samples across a full orchestral brass set-up.

Created for SINE Player, Orchestral Tool’s sample player, Junkie XL Brass offers 16 microphone positions ranging from unprocessed to production-ready mixes. Alan Meyerson has been responsible for providing the mixes, and is renowned for his movie scoring works. Classic brass instruments are included in the library, with trumpets, french horns, trombones, cimbasso and tuba. These were sampled in different section sizes to offer maximum depth and versatility, with different dynamic ranges that will give you “ whisper-quiet pianissimo to thunderously loud fortissimo”, Orchestral Tools says.

If disk space is a concern, you can customise your download to include only specific mic positions. Although, the mic merging feature allows you to save on resources by creating your own custom mic mix and saving it into a single position.

Junkie XL Brass will be available from 16 December, although Orchestral Tools are offering a pre-order price of €499 +VAT, opposed to the €749 RRP that it will be after this date. The library features 24bit/48kHz resolution and is compatible across Mac OS 10.11 and Windows 10 for VST and AU.
