French audio brand K-Devices has released Modulators 21, a collection of six Max For Live devices offering powerful modulation possibilities.

Modulators 21 features tools that many producers will already be familiar with; LFOs, modulation routers, sequencers and more. But K-Devices says that these devices are enriched with new features that can be “operated easily, but can also lead to complex, rich and unexpected results”.

KNOR is K-Devices’ gestures sequencer. Although primed for improvisation and performance, KNOR will be useful to studio and writing environments too. Users can record freehand gestures and recall them manually or by programming them with a probability-based sequencer for more unpredictable movements. Four knobs are onboard to record gestures and can be paired with a MIDI controller. See it in action below.

LFOH! Is an advanced LFO with morph, swing and squeeze parameters, among a few others. These will allow you to create unique waveforms to modulate your sounds in unusual and intriguing ways. Meanwhile, LFOO gives you an even deeper set of tools – two shapeable LFOs, combined with operators to create a third waveform. Three modulation targets can be manipulated with LFOO, with each target having its own source from oscillator 1, oscillator 2, the third waveform, or a noise generator. Check out a demo of LFOO below.

Sources and Targets are designed specifically for modulation routing. Sources lets you map three modulation sources to its three knobs to generate a new complex modulation source. Target allows you to map a modulation source from any Max For Live modulator and route its signal to a maximum of six targets. You’ll be able to create intricate networks of synced modulations in no time with Targets.

Finally, Voltage is a modulation to CV device. It will enable you to route a modulation signal from Live to your external gear as a CV, Gate or Trigger signal. Three colour schemes allow you to set up visual feedback for signal paths and gear.

Modulators 21 comes as a single bundle, meaning you cannot purchase each individual effect. The pack is available now at an introductory price of €34, moving up to €49 after 27 June 2021. Modulators 21 is compatible with macOS and Windows and is only supported in Ableton Live 10 or 11 as Max For Live devices.
