Klevgrand Ting turns car keys, forks and pots into intriguing percussion
A home office has never sounded so funky.
Ting is a new sampler instrument from Klevgrand that is comprised of 12 different sounds created from household items. Over 500 recordings been multi-sampled and processed so that they can become one musically playable instrument. With a reverb, 3-band EQ, room simulator and compressor to add the finishing touches, Ting can turn a toy drum or a sofa slap into genuinely interesting percussion instruments.
Floor stomping, box hitting, paper scratching and more can all be playable in your DAW with AU/VST/AAX support, or straight from your iPad with a dedicated app available. , Johan Sundhage, Klevgrand’s Lead Developer, said of the development of the instrument: “Since we’re all stuck in our homes, we decided to make use of what’s there”.

The 12 different sounds include:
• Car Keys – A subtle hit, designed as a hi-hat substitute
• Silverware – Knife and fork
• Big Box – A junk-filled wooden box slapped with the fist
• Floor Stomp – Low end percussion sounds with a heavy floor stomp.
• Hand Clap – A natural hand clap
• Pot – A clay pot tapped with a finger
• Paper Scratch – Two pieces of paper rubbed against each other for a shaker sound
• Toy Drum – A kid’s drum hit with a plastic stick
• Sofa Slap – Hand palm on the office sofa
• Stick On Edge – Wooden stick on a table edge
• Snusdosa – A small round box with screws inside tapped
• Finger Snap – Natural finger snap
Each of these unique objects have their own individual parameter settings for gain, effects sends, pan dynamics and more. You can send these sounds to five different rooms, including Home Ofice, Kitchen, Living Room, Hallway and Closet. You can use six reverbs to add more time-based effects and include Natural, North Lake, Moonlit, Glacier, Wooden and Dynamite. This means you can have your car keys being hit in the Home Office space, brightened up with Glacier, while your Sofa Slap fills out the Living Room with Dynamite reverb. You can also adjust the decay time and global reverb level.
Klevgrand has released Ting on an introductory offer for both desktop and iPad platforms until 30 April. The VST/AU/AAX version is currently priced at $15, moving up to $20 after 30 April, while the iPad version starts off at $4.99, moving up to $7.99.
